EH DESIGN GROUP's Yintai Metropolitan Art Gallery, a sales center turned art space, merges natural elements with modern design. The project, inspired by the concept of a natural landscape city, integrates elements of mountains and water into its architecture, creating a serene and futuristic urban environment.
The design's unique properties lie in the innovative use of indoor architecture to shape the visitor experience. The color white runs through the space, across different curves and shapes, creating a landscape of mountains and water with a futuristic feel. The designers displayed artworks in a clever way at the sand table area, with winding light bands perfectly integrated into the space, radiating soft light, and creating an exquisite and serene atmosphere.
The project features a dynamic device designed by famous Japanese artist Susumu Shingu. Titled A Spaceship, it hangs from the ceiling, creating a poetic dialogue between humanity and nature. The white spiral staircase winds along with smooth and subtle curves, bringing a gentle tension that expands the dimensions of the space.
The design firm used multiple art and design techniques like interspersing, deconstruction, and curved lines to create a transparent and fluid art exhibition space. This approach helps art penetrate into people’s daily lives, making the gallery an experience both inseparable from and contrasting with the city as a whole.
The project, which started in March 2020 in Lishui and finished in October 2020, faced challenges in creating a strong visual impact on viewers. The designers overcame this by using soft colors to make the space both elegant and cozy. The result is an art space that is independent of life but also infinitely close to it.
The Yintai Metropolitan Art Gallery was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. They are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
